The company was founded in 1875 by Anna Eijffinger and her husband in the area near the Noordeinde Palace in The Hague. The founder of the company was a particularly intelligent woman and, contrary to the standards of the time, she managed to build a strong brand in terms of wall coverings that has survived to this day. At first, Eijffinger sold decorative clocks and wall hangings, but it soon became apparent that the demand for wall coverings was greater.(more)Over the years, Eijffinger evolved from just a retail store into a giant in the supply of wall coverings. The first hundred years were almost exclusively about wallpaper and everything around it, such as new designs and printing practices. The company dealt with fabrics after about 40 years of operation. Currently, a whole team at its headquarters in Zoetermeer works with representatives in many countries supplying Eijffinger products.
